ANOTHER CIRCUIT
JUDGE FOR i THIS
COUNTY IS URGED
t:
Klamath county would ; have; an
additional circuit judge under the
provisions of a bill drafted by
Frank L. Mars and forwarded today
to Representative Hamilton for in
troduction In the present legisla
ture. Increased population which
brings Increased court "business Is
given as the need tor an additional
Jurist.
A bill also was drafted providing
that all county Judges shall be
licensed attorneys, and that all
Justices of tho peace In towns of
1000 population shall also be '
licensed attorneys. He will seek to
have these bills Introduced by Rep
resentative Hamilton.
Wilson S. Wflley, prominent attor
ney of this city, was the chief speak
er at today's meeting of the Kiwanis
club. Mr. Wiley had as bis topic,
"Ethics of the Law" and delivered a
masterful address.
"Many people, contemplating the
law as a life work, think of it only
1 In tho terms of big fees, glory, fu
ture political honors, etc." said itr.
Wiley. "This Is a serious mistako"
continued the speaker. "There is no
profession today no body ot men
that is more interested in perpetuat
ing the ideals of American govern
ment, simple justice and all of the
KOoil and noble things of life than
the lawyers. -
"There are black sheep in every
profession, in every trade. It is the
duty of such clubs as Kiwanis and
Rotary to take a determined stand
against sharp practices in business. I
We have what Is known as the
"shyster" lawyer. He never gets
anywhere nnd occasionally lands tn
the penitentiary, or at least has the
gown of his profession torn from
him."
