FRESN'O bee absorbs
HERALD BY PURCHASE
I FRESNO, Cal. The James Mc
Clatchy eorauwiDy, owner of the
Fresno Bee, hare announced the pur
chase of the Fresno Evening Herald,
one of the pioneer hftmipapera of
the San Joaquin volley, and repre
sentatives of the. Fresno Bee took
charge of -the Herald this morning.
The principal owner of the. Fresno
Bee is Charles K. McClatehy, editor
01 the Sacramento Bee. It was an
nounced by the new owners of the
Fresno Herald that the former Her
ald eubseslbers would 1 be' served
with the Bee, effective at once, a
they Intend to absorb She Herald Im
mediately. The circulation claimed
by the Herald was 7916 and that of
the Bee Is announced as 16,600.

dead in Bond street from heart disease.
