TIMBER TRADE MADE
Booth-Kelly And Drew Companies
Exchange 4,000 Acres
EUGENE, Nov. 6.- An exchange
of between 3000 and 4000 acres ot
timber land owned fey the Booth
Kelly Lumber company. In the Cas
cade mountains northeast of Eugene,
for a similar acreage owned by the
Drew Timber company, an eastern
corporation, has Just been completed,
according to announcement by A. C.
Dixon, manager of the Booth-Kelly
company. -
' The 'land lies adjacent to the up
per end of the MV1 ereek and Mo
hawk river valleys and the tracts ac
quired by the Booth-Kelly company
are all adjacent to lands already
owned by It.
' The trade was .made tor the pur
pose' of allowing both companies to
consolidate their holdings in that
part of the state. The deal Is ad
vantageous to the Booth-Kelly com
pany for the reason that it brings
its timber closer to the mill at
Wendllng and to the Drew company
In that Its lands are now all in one
block and can more easily be disposed
of it a sale is contemplated or can
be logged easier If the comp;Vy con
templates the erection of mills.
This Is the second transaction of
this kind between these two compa
nies during the past few years. In
1918 they exchanged -similar tracts
in that section, each consolldatng ts
a large extent, and the last deal con
stitutes a complete consolidation for
each company.
The Lrew Timber company's
Oregon headquarters are In Portland,
where Wells Gilbert is manager.

A MESSAGE TO
H. L. Ganoe, senior member of

To the ltt'imlitlniii '
The political' pot Is boiling. "Pat" I

Such Is the dope filtering through
from-the little group ot politicians
sitting behind closed doors In the

those fellows. They are willing to
smirch - sixty years of the grandest
history ever written by any party,
in the hope ot lnnoeiilatlng the

When SJcArthur and Olfford put
such stuff to the front, we can't
help but feel that thev are ready to
surrender Republican principles to
solidify their potty following In tne
coming campaign. res, It will
strengthen them with their respec

tho people are so dull, or no brew
