Tendler continued to lead, lash

Tendler walked into a trap in a neu
tral corner, landing blows from both
hands when Leonard laced out. ' It

They sparred ill the center of the
ring, Tendler again taking the lead
at Leonard's pleasure. They had a
furious exchange . of body blows,
moved to the Renter of the ring and

In the next exchange the champion

Tendler led with a right but was
short. - Leonard retaliated with his

Leonard met Tendler's rush and
they exchanged evenly, moving to a
mutual corner where they clinched.
Leonard was getting milch the bet

both hands to the challenger's Jaw
and then crossing both hands to
the Jaw when they separated. They
clinched lightly and then Ben spear
ed Ineffectively with his left. Leon
ard sunk a right to Tendler's Jaw
and then whipped two uppercuts to

Tendler relaxed for a moment and

his right under Lew's ribs. They

more hard rights, just above the belt
line. Tendler again walked- into a

caught; with a two-handed ' attack
to the head. Tendler;; who was'mak
ing a poor showing, ' : fell ; back
against the ropes and Leonard used,
both hands to the jaw.' .They sparred
lightly and ' were boxing when tho

Round Eight'
Tendler's manager 'used force in
his talk during the intermission for
the champion ahd a wide margin by
now. Evidently' Tendler took the
advicq, tor he rushed twice into the
'lead, but his' accuracy was- as poor
as before and Ben took: a rest. The
referee cautioned Lew (or using : the
rabbit punch. They danced around;
Leonard caught . Lew with hard
rights to the Jaw "and sent in, a few
more when Lew clinched. - Tendler
landed,, two short uppercuts ; and
then took two body blows. . Tendler
punched l:'the champion's kidneys.
Tendler sent a terrific right to the

Leonard pounded some more at the
body. They were separated at the

Round Ton
The champion revolved around
the challenger, who stood in the
center of -.the' ring. Leonard' backed
into a neutral corner .and, landed
swiftly, two hard rights to the head.
Leonard missed a short straight, up
percut, They '. clinched. Leonard
easily ducked Tendler's advance and
stopped his next" rally ; by holding
out ' his left hand. Tendler was
again unsuccessful in trying to
break through . Leonard's . defense,
tsopping more jabs and falling into
a clinch.! Leonard right-hookd and
sent a j right uppercut to the - jaw
in, close-' quarters. They sparred.
Leonard smashed Lew on the jaw
with a hard right and they were
sparring when the round ended.
Round Eleven
They stood in the center, of the
ring and again the champion danc
ed around his opponent. Tendler
fell into a clinch. Leonard upper
cut with , his left and hooked with
his right. Tendler caught the cham
pion and hooked his left to the body.
They clinched. They boxed and
danced about, th'ela they : sparred.
Then-Leonard laced out with his left
and absorbed Tendler's advance with
a clinch. -s.They exchanged -short
body' blows. They backed away and
did it again. " Another similar ex
change was followed by light spar
ring. ' Leonard stopped Dew's next
