at Klamath Falls for a few days
more closing up the affairs of the
association. The management of the
association Is highly pleased with
the success of the show. With the
unlimited , support and -.- co-operation
of the' merchants and business men
of Klamath Falls and the good will
of the public. The association ex
pect much greatr things. In the next
few years.

pect to leave Monday for a; visit to
Collier's family in Eugene. From
there they will go to Salem and Port
land before returning home.
Holly Swlgle of Bend who brought
over 30 head of bucking horses for
the rodeo at Klamath Falls spent
Saturday night at the Givan ranch -on
his way home. -
The county road crew is again at
work on the roads from here to
Klamath Falls. The recent rains
put the roads In very bad shape and
' it is thought that a little work at
' this time will do a great lot of good
for them. ' .
A number of people of this valley
who did not go into Klamath Falls
for the Fourth of July enjoyed a
. picnic on the river. . , ? -
The Ladies Aid society will meet
with Mrs. James Dixon next Thurs
day amd all members are asked to

well underway. An unusually good
hay crop is predicted largely due to
the successful fight made against
the grasshoppers In the early spring.

BRITISH SCIENTIST
: LONDON, July 11. Under the
heading, "Coming of the Wireless
Age," a British scientist contributes
a striking article to a London news
paper,, in which he predicts that
wireless will, be -used in tho near
future for directing ships at sea,
train and trolley services, traffic
control on the road, fleets of battle
ships and aircraft. "It will bo pos
sible," he say's, "to direct the path
of everything moving on the sur
face of the earth, not even except
ing human beins, by means of wire
less." The initial step in harnessing
this potent and little known force
was the' establishment some weeks
ago of a wireless lighthouse on
Xnchkeith Island, In , the Firth of
Forth. By means of', this "light
house," ships can be directed
through the dangeTous channels of
the Firth by wireless, so that there
is no possibility of their running
ashore . or being wrecked even on
the darkest night or in the densest
fogs. ' . : '
Steps are being taken, in con
junction with the British board of
trade and the meteorological office,
to internationalize, wireless " direc
tion of ships at sea. At the pres
ent moment there is lying in the
port of London a ship that has
been specially .fitted with' powerful
wireless receiving sets to give dem
onstrations of this new method of
navigation in all the principal ports
of the world.
Setting out from 'London, this
missionary ship will sail for China,
via the Mediterranean, Indian' ocean,
and the straits, 'and thence on to
North and South America, and back
across the Atlantic to Europe and
South Africa, giving demonstrations
at every big port, en route.
The most ambitious 'effort, how
ever, will be a cross-Atlantic aero
plane flight which Is to be made
late' in' the Bummer, j The machine
will carry both pilot; and observer,
but their attentions will be con
fined to the actual flying sidei
Setting out from Newfoundland,
for the first 600 miles of its flight
the aeroplane will be directed by
the Glace bay wireless station.
