Shasta View school opened Seplcm-
tier 1 llh with 31 students enrolled,
and -with tho prospect of moro as
soon as they can be spared from the
harvest fields. The teachers are
Mrs. Vera Farrier of Langtols, Ore
gon, and Mlf- Ada Hunt.
MUa Hunt Is a local girl who H
hold In high oateem by all In the
community She has the first, sec
ond, third und fourth grades. Mrs.
Farrier comes highly recoramendej
as a teacher and she has demon
strated her efficiency. She has ex
trusive musical ability, being able
to play and teach both piano and
violin, us well as rudiments of vo
cal. The Matin grade school opened on
September It with three of last
year's teachers und Mr. Wells, tho
new principal, Mr. Hannon having
resigned sometime previous to take
a position In California. Mrs. Sle
gal who has the first and second
grades has an enrollment of 13,
MUs (ilacomlnl, who has tho third
and fourth grades, lias 1H enrolled.
Mrs. Klvetto, In charge of the fifth
and sixth grades has 30, Wells,
with the seventh and eighth, luw 15,
Wells Is a North Dakota man
but has been attending normal at
Monmouth and has been tn Oregon
for n sufficient length of tlmo to
become "Organized." Mrs. tilegel
ami WelU have their students In
two rooms of the high school build
ing, one of which has recently been
completed for Mrs. Slegel and
equipped with furniture previously
used by her In the grade school
building.
Tho Union high school opened on
Sept. ISth with Miss Wlnnefred

I Smith. They have an enrollment of
24.
. Smith's class In agriculture, which
consisted of six last year, has In
creased to 13 this year. This
