FACTS TO THINK ABOUT
Do You Know
That in March the loss in pay-roll in the lumber
induptry in this county was in excess of $85,000,
and that had the mills opened April 1st, as is their
custom, the pay-roll would probably have exceeded
$350,000 for that month and the first half of May
would add practically another $175,000. The
above amounts totaling approximately half a mil
lion dollars has been lost to the employees and
the community. ,
Do You Also Know
V -
That revisions in hours and pay far more severe
htnan tnose asKcu ior ny
been made by other operators in the Lalnornia
field with whom we must compete.
Do You Further Know
A That this community and our local plants will never
enjoy the advantages they should enjoy until Com
; munity, Employees and pperators work in periods
of depression in the same harmony that they should
?, be working.

Republican Candidate
T
Williams a Me asVice-Chaurmaii.
Flthlnn's oppoaent Ralph. K. Williams, hag been Js'ldc tracked by tho
National Committee to a harmless 'vice-chairmanship, and 'Is'uielesa to
Oregon. Carrying kid glou'a in one hand and a cano in the other, his
hands are full, and ho has not been ablo to do a single thing for Oregon
during tho 14 year ho has boon on tho Committee.
If the hours spent by Williams at Portland's swellest club hjd been,
devoted to working for Oregon, ho might havo accomplished' something
for our poople. "
What is Wrong with Williams?
Williams has no chance ot becoming National Chairman and running
tbo presidential campalgu In 1934, or een t by 'Western fnd of It.
The reason Is that tho National Committee seems, extremely Unwilling
to trust Williams with tho management" ot oveu the Pacific Coast part
ot the national campaigns. For Instance, In ,1918 when'a Regional
Director for (he Coast was 'selected, the Committee turned Williams down
In favor of Raymond Renjamln of San Francisco. Then. In 1920, when
Harding was running, Williams watf again. Ignored, hnd Elmer E. DovoVot
Tucoma was chosen to conduct Iho campaign on tho Coast.
