of Oregon business men, and this
year Williams Is opposed for re
election by O. II. FIthlan, Portland
niefclmiit. Vhoo platform has a
ring of promise.
A national committeeman can be
far more than a figurehead, and
FIthlan promises. It elected, that
ho will do certain definite things
for tho development of Oregon.
Klamath county Is especially In
terested In his promise to secure
war finance corporation aid for
farmers and stockmen.
Tho opposing platforms are con
trasted In a recent article by Henry
M. Hanr.cn. political editor of the
Portland Telegram, and a comparl
kon of his analysis with the official
platforms submitted by the' candi
dates to tho secretary of state,
shows 'that Hansen has stuck to the
rocord In measuring the merits of
the men. This Is his summing-up:
FIthlan Is a progressive republican
and Is seeking the office on a con
structive platform promising party
loyalty, and faithful public service
to the state.
Williams Is a reactionary, and Is
seeking re-election 0n a political
platform promising merely party
service.
