morning at ten.

him from chilli.
And hit pockets were bulging with
boxes of pills.
He came to the nursery and opened
bis pack.
Full of fresh paregoric and strong
Ipecac;
Ilbubtrb and soda-mints, tine castor
oil,
And pink sticking-plaster, rolled up
In a colt.
Tbe children all howled In a chorus
of pain.
And the kid lifted up bis contralto
again.
He felt all their pulses and looked
at their tongues.
Took all their temperatures, sounded
tbelr lungs.
When he'd dosed all the children and
silenced tbe kid.
He put back bis medicine, do-vn the
stairs slid,
Jumped Into bis cab, and said to the
driver
(In excellent humor he'd Jrst made
a "fiver");
"I'm twelve hours behind my ap
pointment. I fear.
Hut I wish It was Christmas each
day In the year."
