Falling short of mnktng Queensland, Australia, bone dry by but 30,000 votes In Its first attempt three years ago, tho Prohibition Foundation of America, has begun a campaign In that provlnco which they declare will terminate when tho liquor question Is again voted on In 1923 there. W. 0. Calderwood, for the past 3C years a leader of tno pronlbltion forces In Minnesota, and candidate for United States Senator on two occasions, has been chosen by the Foundation to orgaulio the dry forces In Queensland and to wage a ceaseless campaign there. He will remain In the Australian province until tbo question Is voted upon whenco he will Journey to India and China, where ho also will engage In similar work, Queensland Is about one-fourth as large as tbo United States. Dry forces brought the liquor question to a vote there three years ago, with the result that prohibition failed by some 30, 000 lotcs, according to George F. Veils, of this city, a member of the Foundation. Subsequently, tbo United StnUs and Canada havo banned liquor, Mr. Wells stated, and In his opinion this makes tho prospect for bringing Queensland Into the dry column much brighter.
