WHY 20c?
The best answer that we have as to whether the
Strand Theater is delivering the goods comes in
the crowded houses we arc having. Three nights
last week we turned hem away, the other nights
the house was filled. If you have not been coming
to the Strand, ask some of your friends what they
see there and you will get the answer fast and
strong "The best pictures in town."
We don't ask you to take our word as to wheth
er our pictures are new or old just look at the
copyright date that is flashed on the screen when
the picture starts. You will find they read 1920 or
1921. But even if they were two or three or four
or five years old, what difference would that make
if they are good pictures. They didn't stop playing
"Uncle Tom's Cabin," "The Old Oaken Bucket,"
"Rip Van Winkle," "Monte Christo," and scores of
other famous plays just because they made the cir
cuit once or a dozen times, or because they were
old. The test, "Were they good plays," is what
kept them going. They were good plays, and they
draw just as big houses today as they did a quarter
of a centuiy ago. That is the test to which we sub
ject the pictures we buy for the Strand. Our pat
rons know it is a good test, for they see only good
pictures, and we know they are satisfied, for our
house is packed every night.
We repeat what we said last week twenty
cents is all any theater in towns this size should
charge for pictures. The price has come down all
over the United States. It has come down here at
the Strand, for we are not profiteering we are
just trying to make a fair profit and give the people
value received. The pictures we show are equal to
any produced and better than most.
The price of films has come down, no matter
what anyone tells you. We expect them to go
to a lower figure, and if they do so, we will charge
a lower price. We will make the admission to the
Strand ten cents if the price of pictures drop to a
point where we can do it. Don't let anyone lead
you to believe that a higher price than twenty cents
is justified, for it is not. It is a straight hold-up,
done for the purpose of making unreasonable
profits and you are foolish if you stand for it.
Always remember that the Strand shows its
pictures on a money-back basis. If you don't like
a picture or the service or anything else about our
theatre, just ask for your money it is there for
you and you will get it back without question.
And, by the way read what we have to say
about the extra vaudeville feature for tonight and
Tuesday night. You get it for the same price 10
and 20 cents.

last evening,' we will run it again tonight. In addi
tion we will have the
FAMOUS HAWAIIANS,
LUA AND LUANA
who captivated the patrons of the Strand Saturday
night. Their appearance here is due entirely to
friendship for "the management. Hence you can
hear them without any extra charge the price re
maining the same, 10 and 20 cents.
