Twelve Killed Instantly and Four Badly

UHI) HLUKF, Cal., Nov. .'JO. Twelve high school
HttulenLs were killed outright and four others so badlv
injured that they will probably die as the result of a
collision at Proberta crossing six miles south of here at
noon today.
The students were on their way home from the
high school at Los Molinos in an auto bus in which they
made their daily trips between the school and their
homes in Gerber and Red Hluff. There were sixteen
students in the auto. A low, heavy fog hung over the
entire countryside and it is presumed it obscured, the
approach of freight train No. IB.
In the dense fog the train hit the bus with such
terrific force that the vehicle with its human freight
was dashed up against a telegraph pole and the wrecked
machine with its mangled passengers were hurled back
on the train.
As quickly as possible assistance was brought from
Red Muff and the dead and wounded jvere brought
here.
