A. W. Stevens, Willard Service Station, Says:
Nobody expects a man to stop his car a half dozen
times on a boiling hot day just to sec if his battery is
getting too hot, but it pays to keep an eye on overheat
ing when hot days and long runs are the rule."
"At noon and at night the careful driver feels of
the battery terminals. If the terminals seem hot he
turns on the lights for an hour or. two. This relieves
the battery of its surplus charge. Unless this precaution
is taken the battery plates may be warped so that re
pairs will be necessary."
"Another thing to remember is that summer heat
increases the evaporation of water from the cells. This
water must be replaced. Many drivers make a habit
of putting a little distilled water into each cell every
week. Of course precautions must be taken against
putting in too much. If a cell is overfull, some of the
solution will slop out through the tiny vent at the top of '
the jar, and will cause rotting of the battery case, cor
rosion of connectors, terminals and so on."
Few people know that "Threaded Rubber Insula
ted Batteries" are standard equipment on 174 Makes
of Automobiles and Trucks in the United States. But
two other nations use them, the French and English.
The Willard Battery stands the test thoroughly under
all conditions.

The water should be pure

You can easily put this
water in, but we will gladly
do it if you prefer."
We are also equipped to
