Rollins, chief engineer for a rock and gravel company, which operate in the Arroyo Seco, has installed a system of crude slulco boxes and each day "pans" out a quantity of tho precious metal that nets them $20 weekly. The old dust Is found in tho gniTcl that is dug from the bed of tho Ar royo Seco and for years has boon left with tho crushed gravel to be used In road construction. Rollins discovered tho "pay streak" when he entered the company's employ months ago and has been panning since than. Will Screen Klamath Ditches Next Month BAKER, Or., June 25. Blaine Kalloek, state game commissioner for Eastern Oregon, reports that efforts of the game commission under the recent legislative act requiring the screening of Irrigation ditches is pro greasing very favorably In the irrigat ed sections. Commissioner Bert An derson, representing thea southern part of the state, Is In personal charge of the screening work, and ad vises that all opposition to screen ing law has disappeared, and that within the next month Jackson and Josephine counties will have been fully screened. Mr. Anderson will then take up the matter of screen ing the ditches in Klamath county. Mr. Hellock says that the opposi tion, to the screening law which has developed In Grant county is a matter of embarrassment to him. State Fish and Game Board Will Hold Meeting Here July 8 The Klamath County Sportsmen's association has been notified that the members of the Game Commission of the State of Oregon will leave Port land by automobiles Monday July 4th for Klamath Falls. The party will travel by the way of The Dalles, and Bend and are ex pected to arrive here elthor the even ing of July 7 or the morning of July 8 at which time goneral game and fish conditions of this county will be discussed. An invitation was sent to the California gamo commission to be present at this conference this aft ernoon by W. W. McNealy, secretary of the Sportsmena' association. The association will meet next Monday evening and Secretary Mc Nealy urges all tho members to bo present as arrangements wtll.be made for this conference on July 8, which Is of great importance to the county.
