yearly figures on recruiting Just is
sued by the Marine Corps contain
some Interesting data on nationality
Of the 10,307 men accepted by the
sea soldiers in the last twelve
months the American born totalled
ninety-four per cent. Sis foreign
nationalities are represented by a
lone Marine, namely Armenia, Aus
'tralla, Columbia, Cuba, Mexico and
Venexuela. Each of these, as with
all the foreign born In this branch of
the service, has either become natur
allied or has taken out his, first pa
pers. It cost the Marine Corps 161.16
for each man who Joined the colors,
and the total per centage of deser
tions was but 1.8C. Forty per cent
of the men accepted -re-enllsted from
the army, navy 'and marines, the sea
soldiers leading with 20 per cent.

followers attacking the young officer
on a dock, where Garland has gone
to tell Ruth's grandfather ot his love
for her.
'Davy, Ruth's soldier brother, who
saved the captain's life In Prance,
again comes to the rescue. Explana
tions follow, the anarchist crew Is
arrested and Ruth restored to confi
dence in her soldier lover.
