This plan has now been worked oiA, and Is fully described In bulletin No. 12, Just published. Congress has already provided that In making appointments to cler ical and other positions In tho execu tive branch of tho government pref erence shall bo given to honorably discharged veterans and their widows or wives. This slntuto docs not ex empt applicants from tho usual ox amlnatloiis under tho civil service, but (hoy will be required to attain an average order to beco ment, while others must mako least TO. Age limitations are alto waived for veterans; they will bo relented from all height and weight requirements, except for tho positions of guard and watchman; te7 will be certified for appointment In the war department at: Washington without regard to the apportionment of appointments among the states and territories; ami after passing the necessary ex amlnatlon, they will have their names placed on a register ahead of those not'.MItled to preference. Information as to the positions and their locations may bo nbtnlned from any offico of tho war department, the civil service commission, or tho fed oral board for vocational education. Application blanks may be had from any district secretary of the civil servico commission.
