PROGRESSING

The annual congregational meet
ing of the Presbyterian church held
last week, was the best from stand
point of reports and outlook the
church has ever had. There was a
large number of members of church
and congregation present. The
ladles set-red a most appetizing sup
per-at 6:30 p. m. At 7:45 p. m. the
meeting was called to order and re
ports were heard from all organiza
tions. The report from pastor and
session showed a total gain in new
members of 46 for the year. Losses
tram deaths, removals, etc., amount
ing to 21, making a net gain of 25.
This added to the membership re
ported' last year, 169, "makes a mem
bership to be reported this year on
April 1-of 194. With a live and
trowing Sunday school which has
Increased -one-third In membership
-from 149 to 198. well graded and
organized, as a feeder for the church
and many new people moving Into
the community together with multi
tudes who are not ' attending any
church, gives large outlook for work
and growth during the coming year.
The benevolent treasurer reported
$728.95 collected from all sources
for the church benevolences the
,fund going to various church boards,
Armenians, Y. M. C. A,, etc. The
Womans Missionary society reported
funds contributed to various agencies
to the amount of $82 which was
away above their quota.
The Kedron club, an organization
ot young ladles, have contributed
1225 to the church building fund,
pledged S250 to the pipe organ fund,
the most of which is already paid
In. addition, to funds used for flowers
for sick .and other beneflclent lines
of service.
The girls' class reported J 25 con
tributed to the building fund and
the older boys' class $70 J other
classes ,$10.
Reports from the building fund
were very gratifying showing but a

report on running expense accounts
also showed excellent financial con
ditions at the close of the year. A
budget of $4,S00 was adopted tor
the now year as against $3,000 for

to May 2, called the New Era drive,
which will bo at tho snmo as the
Inter-church World drive tor Inter
church World funds.

faithful service during tho building
project.
Report from the pipe organ firm
shows Inadequate space for a pipe
organ but tho difficulties will prob
ably bo remedied, although the com
pany has sold ordors so far ahead
that we do not seo an organ before
the first of next year from present
outlook.
J. B. Mason and C. C. Hoguo were
unanimously made life members of
the board ot elders. George Grlzzlo
was also added to the same board.
E. W. Vanntce, A. B. Epperson and
E. S. Henry were new members
added to the board ot trustees. A.
M. Collier has been chosen chairman
of the board, as Arthur Wilson ten
dered his resignation ot that position

Common Council of the City of
Klamath Falls. Oreeon. until Mon
day, the 10th day of, May, 1920, at

Klamath Falls General Obligation
bonds, payable 20 years from date of

to exceed 6 per cent per annum, in
terest payable semi-annually, princi

dered strychnine nud one ounce-of
baking soila. .Make a starch onsto
ef: Stir oiio taliloiipooiifiil of gloss
starch Into one-half dip t f cold wa
ter, then pour It Into ono-hiilt pint
ot noiiing water nud cook until n
thick, clear, transparent paste In
formed which Is frio from lumps.
When paste Is formed, add tho dry
mixture of strychnine und soda.
Stir until thoroughly mixed. Add
unu-linlf pint of heavy corn syrup
(Knro Is host). Stir In four tnhlo
spoouful of salt. Add onn ounce of
glycerlno (mix well). Add. while
stirring, ouo tenspoouful (or nuo
eighth ounce) of saccharine. Pour
this over twenty utinrtH of good,
clean, heavy oais nnd mix until ouch
kernel Is cuitod. For convenience In
handling, tho grain should now bo
spread out to dry. stirring It up oc
casionally to prevent drying in n
