J A wonderful screen' presentation of Peter B. Kyne's story of
"The Three Godfathers." Mr. Kyne's story is recognized as a
western classic and is most ably presented in this picture, which is
pronounced by the screen critics the best of the Harry Carey aeries.

MEXICO CITY, Jan. 26 (liy Mall.)
President Cnnnnza'a administra
tion Intends to recover to the nation
great tractr ot land conceded by pre
vious administrations iov foreign in
loroHs, according to s'tntemonU of
Mexican officials, it Intouila also to
ontorco the constitutional prohibition
barring foreigners from holding land
within 62. miles of tlio Mexican fron
tier and 31 miles from the coastline.
The general trend of their state
ments Is to the effect that It Is the
purpose ot the ndmlnlstrutfon to
avoid colonization projects that might
eentually endanger tho nation and
to rqcoter dominion over oil lands
without violating tho legal rights ot
tho present producers.
These statements wero made In ex
planation of tho government's request
that tho 1919 Congress float a loan ot
50,000,000 pesos to ennblo the nation
to recover land hold under conces
sions by foreign Interests.
Tho officials stated that the great
er part of several states, such as Iow
or California and Chiapas Is hold by
foreigners under concessions given by
previous administrations.
When tho terms of these conces
sions have not been compiled with,
they hnvo ben nullified, according to
the Department of Agriculture. Part
of the proposed loan was Intended to
Indemnity holders for these conces
sions for improvements they had
made.
Interests who have been deprived
ot their concessions by this nullifica
tion have declared that Interior con
ditions for the last ton years have
made it impossible for them to fulfill
their agreements. Various British
representatives are said to be pushing
for Indemnification for work dono on
concessions especially in Lower Cali
fornia and Chiapas.
Dental Is made by Pastor Roualx,
Secretary of Agriculture and Devel
opment, that tho government plans to
nullify all concessions granted1 under
the Diaz and Madero regimes. Only
those where prescribed '.obligations
have not been met will be annulled,
he asserts.

PORTLAND, Ore., Feb. 13. Soma I
Idea of the slzo of the big automo-i
bile show to be held in Portland the
entire week of February 23rd to 28th
may be gained from the fact that the (
Ice Palace, where the motor car partj
of the show will be held. Is tho larg-'
est show room on a slngleMloor In the
United States. Its 360 by 130 feet,
without a single post to obstruct the
view, givd more space than is avail
able for cars even on the main floor
of the huge Coliseum Building In Chi
cago, which Is 300 by 120 feetvln
size.
But large as It Is, tho Ice Palace
can accommodate only the passenger
car section of the Portland show. A
year ago, both passenger cars and
trucks were shown on the same floor.
This year there are so many passen
ger car exhibits, and so many special,
models, that the Ice Palace will be
devoted exclusively to passenger cars,
while trucks will be exhibited in a
separate truck show in the Portland
Armory, a few blocks away.
The passenger car show In tho Ice
Palace will be by long odds the most
corapleto ever held In the Pacific
Northwest, and the truck show will
bo the first exclusively truck event
on the Pacific Coast. Both will be
under ""management of tho general
show committee, and one ticket will
admit visitors to both shows without
additional cost.
In tho passenger car show thero
will bo a total of 69 different makes
ot cars, to say nothing ot tho fact
that at least 176 different models
will be shown. The Portland show
will contain almost as many differ
ent makes of cars as were exhibited
at the recent Now York show, the big
eyent of tho year In motordom.
Eighty different makes of cars
were shown there, as compared to 69
at the coming Portland show.
Thero will also bo CO different
makes of trucks, and approximately
199 different models, on exhibition
in tbo truck show.
The committee in charge of the
two Portland shows Js composed of
H. H, Ellng, chairman; H.'M. Covey,
A. 8. Robinson and M. O. Wilkins.
There is also a special entertainment
commltteo which has m.ido olaborato
arrangements for n musical pro
gramme, an dims expendod largo
sums for docorntltip I' e Ice Palace
for the passengor cur mow. i
