the world during 1919. Ot that num
ber, 97 were felt in tho United States
but there was no loss ot Hfo or seri
ous damago to property from those in
this country. Of tho earthquakes oc
curlng in other parts of tho world,
loss "of Hfo was. recorded In that of
April 28 in San Salvador and one on
Juno 29 in Florence, Italy.
Eighty ot tho 97 earth shocks re
corded in the United States -wero re
ported front California. The remain
der wero felt in various parts of tho
country from tho Atlantic to tho Pa
cific. Kentucky, Arkansas, Utah, Ari
zona, Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Tenn
essee Washington, Virginia, New Jer
sey and Michigan all roportod shocks
during tho year.

will remain until spring, and Captain
Allen's ''Crulsor" lies at anchor In

This Upper lake fleet did groat
work last year. It Is Impossible to

wo can safoly sajr that tho combined
fleet was compelled to travel more
than 100,000 miles to do tho work
