botanical gardens has made a sug
gestion, timely with regard to the
present exhibition of specimens In the
Metropolitan Museum of Art, that here

One Is reminded of the passage "In

architect found a beautiful design In

different senweeds. Perhaps he 'did.

Mortgage on a Cat.
There was filed In the office of the
recorder of deeds in Stockton, Mo the
most unusual chattel mortgage ever
presented at the office. The articles
mentioned to secure a debt of $40
were as follews: One shotgun, one
Winchester rifle, two violins, one black
tomcat with white feet, named Tom.
It was not specified that the guns had
hummers nor the fiddle with bow, but
the Identification of the tomcat was
considered by the mortgagee the most
valuable part of the security. St.
