The "greens" of Russia, often referred to as tho "green army," constitute a force that must bo seriously reck oned with, in the opinion of Rus sian experts at tho British foreign ofllco. Their opinion is based upon a report of one of tholr socret agents who for months has been, in a posi tion to closoly study conditions in Bolshevik Russia. Tho majority of tho "greens" aye doserters from the Bolshevik armies but in their ranks may be found nearly every political element in tho country excepting Bolshovlkl. They havo no idea of governmental plans, should they gain the upper hand, their one idea being to kill Bolshe vlkl and Jews. They tako no pris oners and care for none of the ene my's wounded, tho agents say. It is estimated that in tho spring of 1919 50 per cent of the Bolshe vik soldiers deserted. Augmented by other malcontonts they organized themselea into gqbrilla bands, livttng off the country and obtaining am munition from ' raids, Bolshevik stores. Reporta to the foreign of fice show that the peasants are so hostile to the Bolshevikl that they awtst tba "greens" la erery way iwgy caa. ,,'iua .,tfreea ing the summer caused no end of trouble for the Bolshevikl. Undoubtedly a goodly percentage of the "greens" will rejoin the Bol shevikl this winter, as the severe cold of Russia precludes guerilla warfare, but officials here believe the winter will not kill the move ment and that it will bo more for midable next summer. His residence being at Combe there were objections, it is understood, to tho territorial designation of Bom ersyde, tho Tweedsldo seat of the head of his family and remote kins man, Colonel A. H. Halg. There are well defined rules as to the assumption of territorial titles, and the lord of a manor can object to a new peer taking his title from a place over which the former has "rights," Lord Fisher, for example wished to be Lord Thetford, but his Norfolk Manor belonged to W. D. Mackenzie. Lord Strathcona want ed to be Lord Glencoe, but the .right of the ancient Macdonalds stood In the way.-" - WILL OIRCLB GLOBS v - 1 1 - r bands sww sad diUr,'Th" Grawu BERLIN. Oct 10.
