Dl vorco cases in Seattlo and King coun ty Increased 32 per cont In tho first six months of 1919, as compared with tho same period of 1918, ac codlng to Plorco Lonorgap, former King county diorco proctor, whoro as, a few years hack tho dlvorco rate was one divorce case to thrco mar riages, It now is approximately one divorce case to OTcry two marrfagos, ho said. One hundred and twenty-nino less marriages were recorded in tho first six months of 1919 than in tho same period in 1918. Tho divorce rate in King County and Seattle ten years ago was one divorce to 12 marriages'. "I believe that the fundamental cause of the alarming increase fn di vorce is tho exaggerated conception of individual liberty, which ignores the duties and responsibilities which the individual owes to other mem bers of the community," said Mr. Lonorgan. Politically this is manifested in the I. W. W., the 'red socialists and others who fail to recognize any re sponsibility or standards other than those set by the individual." But there is as much difference in quality between two eggs or two cans of tomatoes. In buying shoes it is important that you go to a dealer who has established a name for hand ling only reliable merchandise. We claim to be such dealers, and our reputation backs up that claim. 'As further assurance of quality, you will find on the sole of our shoes the words, 'THE CROSSETT SHOE MAKES LIFE'S WALK EASY" This brand stands definitely for quality and style. Our Crosett Shoes are known the country over for comfort and long wearing qualities. Through all the unsettled conditions in man- ufacturing, the Crossett" people have never used inferior materials or workmanship. Come in and see the fall and winter models. BRADLEY'S SHOE STORE "MEN'S FINE SHOE HOUSE" 727 Main St 727 Main St Bert. E. Hawkins is In dangor of losing his reputation. Either ho Is one of those fellows who can't keep his foot from off tho accelerator or he is tho quiet, law-abiding, easy-going, fifteen-miles-an-hour chap every one thought he was. Tho Herald put him in the first class, for It reported him as having been arrested and fin ed for speeding, while, as a matter of fact he was not guilty at all. It was just plain B. Hawkins Hence the retraction. As to tho second charge, his friends will have to split the dif ference, for someone told the Herald a short time ago that he sold hlr Dodge and now the inference is thf sooner than run the chance of speed ing he sold the darn thing. That Is what might be termed diplomacy. DECREASE IN LUMBER CUT LAST SEASON WASHINGTON, D. C, Sept. 25.
