1919 the peoplo of the Twelfth Fed
eral reserve district, embracing tho
states of Washington, California,
Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, part
of Arizona and tho territories ot
Hawaii and Alaska, saved $7,079,
255.75 by the purchas eof Thrift
and War Savings Stamps, according,
to a report Just issued by the War
Loan Organization. "High prices
were hit just that hard," said Rob
ert E. Smith, director of the organi
zation, "as every dollar saved helped
bring down prices."
