' A Place Of Interest One of the most interesting places in the city is the Kodak De partment of Underwood's Pharmacy during the busy season that vacation days bring. Dozens of rolls of Kodak film are developed each day and sev eral hundred prints made from them. Large tanks are used for development, each one capable of de veloping thirty-six rolls of film at one time. This process was de vised by the Eastman Kodak Company and is the same that is used by every first-class Kodak room in the country. After development the pictures are printed by means of au tomatic electric machines which are so adjusted thafthe margins print out exactly and correct exposures given by means of lamps that flash off and on at the will of the operator. Prints are washed in a revolving dram and afterward dried be tween two immense blotters that are encased in a metal rolh Heated air is driven through the roll by an electric fan, thus drying- several hundred prints in a feiy few minutes. .Underwoods also print all of the hiVh-grade nhotoo-raphic pos tal cards that arp for sale in Klamath Falls and in addition furnish outside towns like Wped and McCloud with local views of those places. Something like fifty thousand postal cards are printed each year. These are printed on a special machine capable of turning out over a thousand each hour. Two youncr ladies are constantly employed in the dark room and even with the efficient mechanical devices provided find it difficult to keep up with the immense volume of work that pours in as, in addition to the local work, each mail brings films from all over Northern California and Southern Oregon. Special effort is made to complete the work promptly, the mot to of the Kodak Department, being, "Bring us your films today get your pictures tomorrow." The Kodak Department at Underwoods is conducted on the same high plane as the pharmacy and that is that the "best" is none too good for their customers. Velox paper only is used in finishing pictures. This paper while more costly than many other brands, certainly produces the highest results.
