The sum indicated in the above dispatch undoubtedly
includes the highway to Ashland, together with the high
ways north and south, east and west. Of the sum indi
cated, Klamath County will be able this year to contribute
approximately $430,0U0; the state and various branches of
the federal government contributing the remainder.
This announcement is the climax of the road campaign
inaugurated by the Herald last January, and assures a
highway system for Klamath that will make it the greatest
county in the state of Oregon.
County Engineer Darley is in Portland now, represent
ing Klamath Countyj and if he returns with assurance that
Klamath wili'have federll and state support to the extent
indicated in the above dispatch, JClamath Falls must stage
a celebration that will be heard throughout Oregon.

and Game Commission which has
been under fire by the Sportsman
Leaguo and the Multnomah Ang
lers Club has been called east unex
pectedly, the hearing of the charges
which the Governor had set for next
Friday, has been indefinitely post
Kned. The hearing will -be held In
a few weeks on Warren's return.
A controversy over the Fish and
Gme Commission has been raging
for several weeks and Governor Ol
cott had set the date Friday for

In pleading for unity In this com
munlty, Dr. Gray handed Klamath
Falls a humorous Jolt which will bo
long remembered by his hearers. He
described a visit which he had made
with a famous physician to an'lnsano
aslyum in Now Jersey. Ho had bo
come greatly Impressed with tho fero
cious appearance of the men In a par
ticular ward, who numbered nearly
forty, and who wero guarded by one
small man whose physical prowess
was apparently unequal to any ono ot
the Inmates. On going out ho called
tho guard to one side and askod why
he was unafraid ot this big bunch of
men, who wero quarreling so florcoly,
and suggested that It they should
combine and turn on him ho would
have, no chanco at nil. Tho guard
laughed, and assured him that ho hud
