Xow, don't get the idea Into your head that this campaign is for the purpose of raising money. It isn't! True, there will be a charge of one dollar as initiation fee and dues for one year. It is not to get this dollar that the campaign is to be launched. It is to get your interest, which will be worth a thousand times more than any money you may put into Jhe moV&ment. Every man and woman in Klamath County should be long to the Association. It should have a 100 per cent membership. But3ion't Join thru fear of being called'a slacker. If you do, you will be In the wrong place. Xo one is wanted unless he brings with him his good will and support for the construction ot permanent roads. It is an lienor proposition an honor to be linked up and associated with the leading enterprising, up-to-the minute, city and county loving people of Klamath. It will b greater than any Commercial Club, greater than any'organlzatlon in this county, for it will represent the spirit, the en terprise, the go-to-it-and-get-it Man hood and womanhood of the commun ity. That is why you will be asked to join and it is on that basis you will be expected to Join. If you re main in the discard, all right, but the Herald does not believe there is n person in Klamath county who wants to be out of such an organiza tion. SATURDAY, KKRRUARV 13, lfUOi left for San Francisco. Although 'a tentative program for road construction in Oregon and Washington has been drawn up. This is resulting in a demand for the passage of the resol ution now before the legislature, which calls for an amendment to the Mate constitution restoring capital punishment, wifh the provision, how ever, that it shall rest with the Jury to say whether the convicted person shall be hanged or not. There should be no hesitancy in passing such a measure. It should be extended to In clude those who make a deadly as sault. The fact that the victim re covers should not save a man from hanging, for the intent was there just as strongly as it the object of bis attack recovered. But It might per haps be better to take It a little at a time, and after we get the first amendment it may be easier to get the second.
