of this fact was brought to the atten
tion of the people of this county when
he practically refused to join with
Setator Baldwin in, support ot the
'constitutional amendment permitting
the raising; of funds for the construc
tion of permanent roads. Pursulns
his characteristically vasclilatlng pol
icy, he raised a question as to the
wisdom of placing the limit at ten

ement against that of the people who
pay the bill and sent him there to
represent, them. Not once has he

terest and enthusiasm for the devel

of Dr. Merryman not to-pick out this
county for such legislation.
