Ah, another step in its program to
make Klumuth Falls known through
out the world, the Herald today pre
sents to the business men of this
city a new Idea for publicity, which
It hopes to' see everyone of them
adopt today Herald checks are be
ing Issued with the following Indorse
ment printed thereon In red Ink
"When you Indorse this check you
start It home to the llvest town on
the Pacific Coast Come and see
for youisolf"
Those who huve seen It say It Is
the best idea so far advanced for pub
licity, as It will be read by all classes
of people and will bring this city to
tho attention of men who otherwise
would never read, or at least pay lit
tle attention to publicity propa
ganda. The wording of course, may
be Improved upon or changed to meet
the varied ideas of those who may
adopt the plan. It should not be con
fined to checks alone, but every piece
of bankable paper that Is sent out of
tho city should have a similar In
dorsement, whdrcver this may be
practicable. The wording of the In
dorsement Is no exaggeration of the
real fauts and Is along the line of the
policy advocated by the Horald of
telling only the absoluto truth.
Klamath Falls Is In u bettor condi
tion In every Imaginable particular
thuri any other city on the Pacific
Coast Tho mero fait that wo have
not a greater population than San
Francisco, docs not Indicate that we
are not far ahead of that city In
many other respects, nnd for re.tl,
genuine, progressive, hustling, wide
awake people, Klamath Falls is bo
far nheud of ovoiy other city or
town on the Pacific Coast that she
Is In n class by herbolf.

MERGER IS SUGGESTED
Director of Klamath Irrigation Dis
trict Sees Big Possibilities of De
velopment If Organizations Get To
gether and Work as a Unit for
Advancement.
To the Editor of the Evening Her
ald The Editorial In the Evening
Herald of Saturday and Monday,
commenting on and commending the
letter which followed, Is In accord
ance with tbe proclaimed policy of
tbe Herald, namely the upbuilding
of Klamath, and is In line with the
splendid co-operation of the Herald
In tbe organization of the Good Roads
Association, which could only have
been brought about by the publicity
given and fine public spirit shown by
all.
The formation of a federation of
water users as mentioned In the let
ter, would be another branch of the
body that should be organized and
composed of representatives from
this proposed federation, the Good
Roads Association, and of every other
organization and Industry within the
Klamath country.
In the past, one of tbe chief diffi
culties of maintaining an organiza
tion of this kind has been the ques
tion of funds sufficient and forth
coming to command and hold a com
petent secretary. In view of tbe
above stated conditions and appreci
ating tho great benefit to all Interests
of the community, and realizing the
need of a central organization to as
sist In planning and carrying out a
program of development that would
be comprehensive, I would suggest
that the Water Users Association, or
Its successor, place the services of
the secretary of the association at
the disposed of such an organization,
and that the salary be borne in full
by the association The nature of
the secretary's work is such that
the two could be combined without
detriment to either organization
I have had no opportunity to con
sult with the other directors of the
association on this subject. Several
water users whom I have approached
are favoiable to the proposition.
Personally I am strongl) In favor
of a movement that will result in an
Immediate tabulation of all the re
sources of the County that will pro
vido employment and land for re
turning soldiers and the development
of natural resources, the construction
of roads and early continuance of
the Strahorn railroad, all of which
are necessary to the public welfare of .
the country f
