Emergency Klect corporation announ
ced today that It would be the gov
ernment's policy, In the matter of the
shipyard strike to "let the Job stand."
He referred particularly to the si
tuation at Seattle and San Francisco
where strikes are now threatened.
Director Piez declared that mo'st
of the yards needed a breathing spell
and that he did not think the gov
ernment would continue to furnish
work at the present extremely high
wages unless the Increased skill and
output justified it.
He also declared that he believed

shipyard workers In their own inter
est to call strikes at their existing

respondent of thf Evening Standard
says that the Peace conference has
eliminated any intention of calling on
Germany and her associates to pay
the allied cost of he tfar or to impose
heavy indemnities.
There will be full and ample re
paration of the unjustifiable damage
however to Serbia and Belgium.
The idea that Germany should re
turn tho indemnity that she took
from France in 1S71 has now been
abandoned.
British claims are to be made for
damage in the air raids and for the
sinking of her merchantmen.
