LONDON, Aug. 21. The British forces launched an
offensive today along a ten mile front between Arras and
Albert and advanced from two to three miles, taking three
towns ana several hundred prieoners in the first hour.
WITH THE BRITISH ARMY, Aug. 21. Hail's often

orth near Adinfer and Moyeneville and Puismieuxaum.
On the south the British forces took the towns of Ab-
Wneieville, Beacort and Moyennenille and attacked all
the German outposts along Dranoutre ridge, between Kou
dekot and Locre Hospice.
They later captured Courcellex, Achiet Le Petit and
Aehiet Legrand. The attack was made without artillery
preparation and was completely successful. It was made
by the Third British Army under General Byng.
PARIS, Aug. 21.-r-The French have continued their ad
vance along the whole front between the Oise and the
Aisne today and captured Carlepont and Cuts, which are
outh and east of Noyon. They also took ground on the
west of Lassigny and are gradually closing iin on the Noyon
Junction from three sides. The fall of this center is now
threatened.
