known, however, thnt the seaplane

This Is understood to bo much In ex
cess of power used in nritlsh craft
and their performance la expected to

EL. Mrs. I. E. Lucas pasted away thin
morning at her home in Shippiugton
after an Illness of several weeks,
caused from a complication, of troub
les. She Is survived only by her bus-
band In the Immediate family.
The funeral services-will be held
tomorrow at 2 o'clock at the Whlt-
lock Chapel, under the auspices of
tho Christian Science Church. Mr.
and Mrs. Lucas have been residents
of Klamath Falls for a number of
years and the deceased has many
friends who will mourn her depart
ure. I

"8tatewlde workless days" during the
harvest season have been advocated
by Assistant Secretary of Agriculture
Ousley.
Appearing before the acnate com
mittee on agriculture Ousley stated
that it would be necessary to cloie
down non-essential Industries for a
period of 15 days during the hsrvest
season In order that workers might
be sent to the farms.
"No act of legislation can send the
man back to the farms," he declared
"I believe the business men will have
to close their places for days and
even weeks, and gg into tlio fields
and help harvest the crop."

The I. W. W. charged that a crim
inal syndicate had been formed and
threatened to storm the Jail. The
cltlien surrounded them and forced
them to surrender. The mob was
placed under a heavy guard. Pis
tols were found on some of the men.

son died here today at the age of
sixty-nine years. His service In the
Senate was from 1907 to 1911. Dur.
lug his service he enjoyed the dis

per bouse of Congress. He ranged
ns one or the greatest lumbering pro
ducers or the nation. His various
