fo doAdmlnlstrator Hoovers aute
ment nn the augar situation, which
he tried unsuccessfully to get before
the senate committee Investigating
the sugar shortage, has been made
public by the White House.
It attributes the shortage here to
the movement of sugar from the
western hemisphere to Europe, and
assert that without the fixing of
prices by agreement sugar would
have been selling for 2S to 30 cents a
pound, and more than $200,000,000
would have been profiteered from the
American people by this time.
The statement contains the food

made before the committee by Claus
Sprecklos, president of tho Federal
