Women of the local Civic Club and other patri otic Pendleton women have protested to the management of a local theater against and disrespectful use of the vmerican flag. Great dissatisfaction was voiced over the manner In which the Stars and Stripes were used by an actor ataa local vaudeville theater. In this case, it is declared, a sleight-of-hand performer used the American flag in some of his tricks, tying the flag into knots and rolling It up his sleeve. One of the women told the manager of the theater, "This, perform er used the American flag as he might use any common rag, and I think that is no way for our flag to be handled,' either on or off the stage." The management of the theater is not liela responsible by the women who protested, but the matter simply vas called to his attention.
