This is to be completed Ja about six weeks Trains can soon fun all the way from the West side of Klamath Falls, across the Klamath Valley to Olene postofflce, a distance of nearly ten miles. At Olene a slight delay has been caused by the change of liae thru Olene Osp, which has required new surreys over ra distance of three miles. This resulted, from the judg ment obtained In thrf Corpenlng con demnation suit, which was thought to be so excessive as to warrant aban doning the original valley line and locating on a higher elevation to the north. However, this detail will not delay final completion of the road to Dairy, as much of the heavier work In the vicinity of Pine Flat and Dairy will be the controlling factors. A much desired detail of this Olene Gap change will be the elimination of three bad grade crossings of county toads. PIn nrnvrau la tilnff m&fta All this last Ave mile section just referred to.. Four miles of grade have been completed across Pine Flat by Con tractor C. T. Darley, who Is also just completing the earthwork on the "V and other features of the Dairy tar minals and approaches thereto. Joe Rock thas completed the new county road which Mr. Strahorn was compelled to build over the Dairy Summit to enable him to cut out dan gerous crossings of rail and wagon road. The same contractor Is now opening up the rock cuts nearby on the railroad grade. Lund A Co., which Arm has the heaviest half mile on the entire line, have now pushed their big rock cut from the east thru the Plna Flat sum mit, where it is twenty-eight feat deep, and as it will soon rapidly di minish in depth, they expect to come out on the level where work is ad vancing from the west on contract time. The reck work just beyond the Rex Bord place on the third flre-mlla section is now well, in hand. Hera, also, a new county road la being built by the contractor over a considerable section to eliminate two bad grade crossings. As in the case of the coun ty road over the Dairy summit, a much easier grade and 'wider road bed is being made than existed be fore, a consideration for the safety convenience and economy of the users on the part of the County Court and Mr. Strahorn which will not be lost sight'of in the years to come. Inhuman Treatment Forced on Belgians ence of the Associated Press) Male clvttjans In the Belgian towns of Lan gemarck, Stadea, Elverdlnghe, Wou sen and Routers, which recently were evacuated by the Germans, have been forced to work near the German first line trenches la Belgium, with the result that many have been killed by exploding shells, according to In formation received by the Belgian government. The clvtlinn population of these towns was ordered to go to the rail road stations. The women, children and old men were packed Into the forward cars of the trains, while all men and boys, between 16 and 60 j cars, were placed in the rear cars. When the trains started, the rear cars wore uncoupled nnd the occupants forced to undertake the hatardous work near the first lines. In most cases the women and chil dren did not know that they were separated from their husbands and fathers until they arrived atjhclr des tinations. How wheat, brought originally from Rus sia, has been carried to Montana In the crop of a wild goose and has be come established here, waa told by Corrle Hyatt, an Indian farmer at Arlee, Mont. The Indian icllleld the goose In 1899, and found six grains of wheat in its crop, he said. He planted the grain and harvested a small handfull of long-bearded wheat, unlike any ever seen here before. He continued to plant It, and gave seed to his neighbors. Last year he exhibited a sheaf of the wheat at the Interstate fair at Spokane, Wash., and there he saw similar wheat from Saskatchewan, Canada. The exhibitor told hlra he bad obtained his seed from a sack or wheat brought from Russia In 1897. Oregoa Caaslmere overcoats. Exclusively at K. K. K.
