AMSTERDAM. Aug. 8 According
to Berlin advices the final result of
the State Income tax assessment for
Berlin in the taxation, year of 1917
shows a total of 48,000,000 marks,
or an increase of 3,500,000 over the
1916 assessment. Taxpayers with In.
comes of over 3,000 marks number
64.630 or 9,344 more than In 1916.
The average Income of skilled muni
tlon workers at the present time is
from 6,000 to 6,000 and, In many
cases, 7,000 marks.

Again in France

Dr. Earl V. Morrow has arrived In the medical work In Belgium In te
France, according to a cablegram re
ceived by bis father, Dr. J. W. Mor
row, of Portland. Dr. Morrow Is now
on bis way to the base hospitals In
France, it Is supposed. He was re
cently promoted to the rank cf cap
tain according to a letter recently re
ceived by bis father.
Captain Morrow spent some time In
riir nart of the war. In recognl
tlon of his efforts, he was knighted
by King Albert of Belgium. . He Is
now a captain In the United States
army medical corps.
Dr. Morrow is well known in this
city, where he practiced for some
time as a partner of Dr. R. R. Hamilton.

In the arrival last evening of Phil
Norton, u noted publicity writer,
Klamath Falls Ih believed to be for
tuuuto. Mr. Norton accompanied by
his wife Is making a tour of the prin
cipal points of Interest on the Coast
and at the solicitation of Vice Precl-
dent A. K. O. McCormick of the Sou
thern Pacific and of T. D. Slaven of
the Sacramento Union, he has made
a trip In here to add material for
his pon.
Mr. Norton will bo here but a short
time, but arrangements have been
made, to show him as much as pos
sible of tho Industrial side as well
us tho agricultural and scenic re
sources of the county, while here.
H will visit Crater Lake at the
conclusion of his stay here and go on
to Portland by the way of Medford.
