Mill Hunter returned last night from San Francisco, and says that work has started on the four band saw mill at Weed for tbe-Weed Lumber company, and that he bas purchased the machinery for the mill. Mr. Hunt er says that-work on his mill here, to be located at the rear of the Ewauna Box company's plant, iskawalting on tbo new railroad. . WEST SIDE ROAD CUT-OFF WORK STARTED IN EARNEST Maddox & Lynch, succeitsful con tractors far the West Side Improve ment on the Keno road, have a force of rock men and teams engaged In start ing this work. Tho rock men are work ing on this side of the hill and the teams on tho other, preparatory to constructing the road around the hill and eliminating the steep grade which at this time is the next thing to Im passable, owing to rocks, ravines and the grade. The contract' was Jet by the county court several months'ago. WEST MAIN STREET IS BEINO.ORAOEO Tho city has a force of men at work on West Main streot placing gravel on the street. This street, one of the main entrances to the city, as well as an exit, bas been one of the worst. The street has had a good base, but owing to holes, has been one of the roughest. It was one of Inn first prob lems taken up by the new council, and n special trip was taken to view and find n remedy.
