The ordinance provides for a 50-
year franchise, the manner of Instal

we have agreed to take up these sur
veys out of their regular order, so
tbat same may be completed this
spring. In order that the landa may be
entered and put Into cultivation this
year.
"There will be no general drawing,
and no necessity for any applicant or
ontryman going to the laniLofflce Per
sonally. Hla application papers may
be sworn to before a qualified officer
in the Immediate vicinity of the lands.
In round numbers, there are about
5,000 acres of these landa to be open
ed, and It happens that they lie In
three land districts In two states. Ap
plication papers must be sworn to be
fore a qualified officer within the land
district. Arrangements have been
made to have the United 8tatea com
missioner qualified to act tu the vicin
ity of the lands In the two California
districts, and officer at-Klamath Falls
can ao act for the landa on the Oregon

"The matter of requiring the de
posit was carefully considered, aad it
was finally concluded, that those who
