General Joseph Simeon Gallenl, the
"savior of Paris," formerly military
governor of the French capital, then
minister of war, and later bead of the
French aerial corps, died at VoraaUtoo.
aged 67. On August 87, 1814, when the
German advance threatened Farts,
general Gatlienl was made military
governor of the entrenched camp.
When General Maunoury assembled

thorn 80,000 of his troops, sad threw
them Into Maunoury's corps, the exist

minister of war. In February. 1818,.be
took over tho direction of the depart
