A Bunch of Fun
By FILMPHAN
For the second time within a fort
night. Klamath Falls theater coers will
tonight have an opportunity to witness J
"Cnrraen" at the Star theater. Al
though the two Alms are founded upon
the same story, they are different, and
I'.ro portrayed by different companies,
supporting leading ladles, who are
favorites wlUi all, but who are before
the public eye in entirely different tho
' ntrlcal work.
Tho exhibition given a short time
ago was a ifllmatization of the dra
matic version of "Carmen," as pro
duced on tho stago, Thoda Bara ap
, pcarlng in the title role. Tonight, tho
operatic version will be shown, with!
'none other than Geraldlne Farrar,
I Americas greatest opera star, playing
"Carmen." A comparison of the two
versions should be of interest to all
theater goers and tonight's production
should bo of especial interest to music
lovers, as it shows a star of tho first
magnitude a little out of her orbit
but nevertheless an extremely capable
actress, keeping all Interested.
As to which version is the best there
Is much discussion. The supporters of
Theda Bara point with pride to the
famous leap to death and say, "Can
tho Farrar film touch that?" to which
the people favoring the operatic ver
sion reply that Miss Farrar and her
company make their film a success by
real acting, not by introduction of
thrills foreign to the story.
Those who witness tonight's exhibi
tion will find Miss Farrar a much
more fascinating "Carmen" than
Theda-of-the-Eyes. They will also find j
an able cast supporting her, a real in-;
toresting plot, with real thrills fur
nished by tho realistic fight between
"Carmen" and another cigaret factory
girl, by Jose's duello, and last, but not
least, by the bull fight, which Is, more
fight than "bull."
