Wo have faith used In various con' nectlons In tho Dlblo and with a par tlcular meaning according to Its par tlcular connection. Wo-havo faith in connection with prayer; faith In con nection with Ood; faith In connection with Jcsitg Christ; and we linvo faith In connection with salvation, or sav-l Ing faith. The first verso of this, chapter gives us a defflnltlon of faith. In general. "Now faith Is the substance things hoped for, the evidence of of things not seen.' According to the word, faith Is substanco and evidence. Faith gives to the human soul tho substance or assurance of things hoped for, It Is evidence or proof of their eilstcnce. A man of faith is assured of and puts to proof things not seen. The pnrtlarcha were splcn- did examples of faith at work (are ahown In this chapter). The basis of their faith was In the promises of Ood. So with us today; the foundations of our faith Is God's Word, and thus faith is Inseparable from the Scriptures. Faith Is assent of the mind to tho truth of the Scrip tures and consent of heart and will to obey tho same. Saving faith has threo elements. First, an Intellectual element or a be lief In the facts of Scripture and in the doctrines of man's sinfulness and jdopendenct on Christ. Second, an ' ! emotional clement, namely an assent I to the revolution of Ood's power and graro In Jesus Christ to save the soul Third, n voluntary element; a trust In Christ aa Lord and Savior. I was goln to build a platform to stand on for this county commissioner job, but I am not now, as I would have to tell the biggest bunch of damdest lies that you ever heard, but that Is not my forte.
