pectlve Juror In the county. He also
used Skoda guns against the Her
ald's batteries, by means of which,
he alleged, derisive grapeshot, of the
kind that stings, mud that sticks and
langers, and other abusive attacks
were hurled at him, thereby crippling
his force In previous engagements.
The Merrill Record was also given
a few shells, ana was branded as a
publication also centering Its efforts
to defeat Justte.
Irwin apparently was hampered by
a lack of ammunition, as he used the
same statements over and over, until
the neutrals began to yawn and re
mark, "We heard that before." Then
he started his aerial attack by going
up In the sir, shouting, "Gentlemen
of the Jury," and receiving a laugh
from the neutrals at a serious point
in his speech.
Cavalry activity was not In evi
dence, although Irwin expressed a
desire to meet In duello, Benson,
Kuykendall or Low.
Campaigns were also made for the
neutrals by Judge Onelll, Fred Peter
son," Jasper Bennett, Miss Applegate,
Miss Wells, R. R. Brewbaker, Carey
M. Ramsby, J. A. Maddox, George
Humphrey, A. A. Mebaffey, George
A. Haydon, Burt Hawkins and Fred
Hyndman, but after the real exhibi
tion of real warfare given by Irwin,
the efforts of these for sensationalism
looked more like first aid drills by
the boy scouts, or Salvation Army
maneuvers.
P. S. Lost reports are that Irwin
Is still some distance from Renomlna-tion.
