Callahan ,who was succeed' ed last year by Clarence Rowland ai manager of the White Box, haa bees named by Barney Dreyfoss to succeed Fred Clarke as manager of the Pitts burg club. The contract la for two years. Callahan recently accepted terms to manage the Los Angeles dob of the Pacific Coast League, and the owners are satisfied with A deal pro posed by Dreyfuss. The minor league will receive some players for allowing Callahan to Join tbe Pirates. The an nouncement came somewhat as a sur prise, as Callahan bad not been mi tioned as a candidate. Dreyfuss had been in communication with Manager Fred Cralke recently, and it is thought that tbe latter was preparing to an nounce his comeback.
