One ot the bluest advertising
schemes yet suggested (or Klamath
county and one ot the cheapest Is un
der the consideration ot prominent
business men and the Commercial
Club.
It's nucleus was the tact that an
entire treinload ot the progressive
farmers ot the Middle West leave Chi
cago, In a special train, for the San
Francisco fair, October 9th. They ar
going to see the fair, and. Incidental
ly, all the agricultural lands their
train chances to pass through.
The scheme is that Southern Pacific
officials be petitioned to have this spe
cial leave Weed on the main line and
come up Into this country. At Klam
ath Falls would be automobiles wait
ing, with a good guide to each, to
take these men to the farming section,
particularly the irrigated lands. Also
to have the winning products of all
three of the district falreft Klamath
Falls that day tor exhibition purposes.
It is everywhere conceded that the ad
vertising value of the scheme would
be enormous.
The train leaves Chicago on the
Santa Fe line, but to persuade the
farmers to take the Portland route
home would be the easiest part ot the
scheme, for they undoubtedly would
wish to take a different route from
the one on which they came. Con
siderable work will be necessary to
perfect the scheme, but already sev
eral men are Investigating Its feasibility.

Twenty Reasons Why RED CEDAR
Shingles Should Be Used
L Because RED CEDAR SHINGLES are endorsed by years of experience.
2 Because RED CEDAR SHINGLE roofs which have been on for thirty-two years
are still in excellent shape.
3. Because RED CEDAR SHINGLES do not rot, rust or corrode.
4. Because of the resistance of RED CEDAR SHINGLES to decay.
5. Because of the light weight of RED CEDAR SHINGLES. Do not make a cum-
sorne roof.
6. Because RED CEDAR SHINGLES do not require close sheeting.
7. Because when properly nailed RED CEDAR SHINGLES are not affected by
the. wind.
8. Because RED CEDAR SHINGLES are not affected by hail as are patent
roofings.
9. Because RED CEDAR SHINGLES do not require the upkeep and frequent
painting that metal and patent roofing require.
10. Because a RED CEDAR SHINGLE ROOF is comparatively noiseless during
heavy rains or hail storms.
U. Because RED CEDAR SHINGLES are poor conductors of heat and cold, thus
making a house cooler in summer and wanner in winter than coverings which
readily conduct heat and cold.
12. Because of the beauty of RED CEDAR SHINGLED roofs.
13. Because of the beauty and popularity of 'RED CEDAR SHINGLES in bunga
low designs. Nothing can compare with the beauty of shingles in bungalow
construction.
14. Because of the case and variety of colors with which RED CEDAR SHINGLES
can be stained.
15. Because of the ease of laying RED CEDAR SHINGLES.
16. Because of the cheapness of RED CEDAR SHINGLES when initial cost and
upkeep are considered.
,17. Because of the ease with which a local injury to a RED CEDAR SHINGLE roof
can be repaired.
It. Because the ordinary layman can tell at a glance what quality of RED CEDAR
SHINGLEhe is purchasing, while it takes a chemist to determine the quality
of other roofing materials. r
