People are becoming very much more sensible In these days, to the ugly side of citizenship shown by those who, while willing to accept and profit by the growth of the city and Its increasing wealth created and promoted by their more enterprising; public spirited and open-pursed neighbors, themselves refuse to con tribute a cent to help the cause. Such men are parasites, sucking tbe life-blood of the community, hiding away the profits brought to them by other men's labors and Industry, they meanwhile stubbornly refusing to aid with either their brains, their time or their money, in-producing the gen eral wealth In, which they expect to share. The re-organised Commercial Club Is nesring the end of a great cam paign to Interest 'and enlist in its service Individuals and business con cerns not yet on the rolls of tbe or ganisation.. It la soliciting all such to become members. This campaign means greater things and a brighter future for Klamath Palls; and it means, Just as surely, greater things for .every business man, every professional man, every manu facturer, every laborer and every citi- sen of Klamath Falls and vicinity. No public spirited citizen who can afford to be a member has a right to remain out of the organisation. It Is decidedly worth his while to be come actively Identified with this great organization and power for community welfare. ". Scattered Shots .'. - , ARE YOU ONE of tbe 2 00 mem bers of the new Commercial Club? IT IS SOME membership campaign tbe live wires, of Klamath Falls are making for the new Commercial Club. IT TAKES A LOT of material to make a 42-centimeter projectile; but when its hits it does the work. It takes a lot of members to make an effective Commercial Club; but when it strikes there is something doing. ALL THE MATERIAL of a great projectile used In small rifle shots wouia not maice an impression on a great fort. i ALL THE MEN of the Commercial Club working independently make little' headway In getting big Improve ments. OUR WEEKLY SERMON i i i SATURDAY, JlH,y j til J9 By Her. B. O. sMySmr' BJcaaHa, Paste Grace M. K. Church Dut aa many as received Him, to them gavo He power to become the sons of God. John 1:11. "Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, nnd today, and forever." Who is heT What is heT Moat talked of of all men, whom do we receive when we recelvo htm? We receive: I -A Spotless Maahood. It la worth something to be clean In thought, in word, In deed; In short, In character. When a man puts on a clean collar he wants It to be spotless. When he paints, his house white, he wants it to be spotless. When he buys a gem, it must be flawless. But too often ho will take anything for a character. We pretend to prize the kernel and really prise the husk. But here comes a man spotless In heart and life, flawless In character. His own Judge and condemnor found no fault in him, but to save his owa pop ularity, sacrificed him. And many a man has done that since. Tarnished tinsel, cracked gems, denuded houses, poisoned springs, daubs of palatiags, shoddy goods all are practically valueless. We shun them.. Why place any valnerupon shattered char acter? upon tarnished manhood? As the world rechecka up Itself it places less and less value upon such charac ter, for time sifts close, aad con stantly proves that it lies low In the scale of values. This man Jeans chal lenges the world. He drinks from eternal springs. His thoughts come from God-head. He la a heavenly man walking the earth. Also, we re ceive: 2 A Man of Lofty Purpose. Some men never aim higher than physical appetite. Others never aim higher than their emotions. Others never see beyond the Intellect. Some men see beyond themselves Into tbe needs of men. Others see beyond men to God himself. This man saw a good way into eternity. And he .said that eternity was to know God and Jesus Christ, whom he had sent. Cradled In a manger, reared in a shop, be saw the needs of men. He realized that there were two classes: the down trodden and the down-treading. He strewed his pathway with the speech BFHMBBBBBBB HBJBH Children can't eat too much ICE CREAM their craving for it is perfectly natural it's nature's own food. It's a tissue builder., Its food qualities build more strength than most of the food we now eat. That's just why' you should give plenty of it to the "kiddies" they need it it's the best thing for them. What's good for the children is good for the "grown-ups" as well. Why not have it every night as a dessert? , Order it today and every day for the children. See that it comes from us. Ours is a Tissue Building, Pure Food Ice Cream. KLAMATH FALLS CREAMERY Phone 74 of parables about these. Ho sat at the tables of both, but ho refused to be either, though In a sense he took the place of the former, nut ho pre ferred to look high, even uuto the lifting up of the down-trodden and tho purging of the down-treading. Ho blistered tho latter with his anathe mas and comforted tho former with his ministries. A touch of his hand healed tho sick. His word laved tho heart His tears fell with theirs, and then he brouaht back their doad. He said they were dead, and then made them to walk forth. His purposes rose to the height of seeking to raise men up to Qod. He stopped not with his own house hold, or his own city, or his own na tion, but commanded his followers to go Into all tho world and minister to every living creature, and said that when they did that they did It to himself. Also, we receive: a A Great Savior. Men who see in Jesus Just a reform er miss his aim and destiny. He de lighted to take tho part of the under man and save him from his fellow, and no man can receive him who will not do this. It Is useless In the face of Jesua' miracles and parables and the great Sermon on the Mount, to take any other stand about Jesus. The man who will not be helpfufand fair cannot receive him. And "as many as received him, to them gave he power, to become tho sons of Qod." He was a savior of tho under man and the lone woman, and tho helpless child. But tho man who limits him to such a sphere has not caught his deepest message. He Is a great savior because he camo to save men from themselves. To the man who Is a slave to his own appeUtes, his own base selfishness, his own cowardice, his own lust, his own desire to do and inability to accom plish, to his own chagrin and lonll ness, to him came this man as a great savior. He dared the world when ho said,- "No man cometh unto the Fath er but by me." Ho spurned all fakes when he said, "He that cllmbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber." He encouraged tho weak when he said, "My yoke is easy and my burden is light." He chal lenged the strong, when be said, "Be hold, I send yon forth aa sbeep In the midst of wolves. They will deliver you up, to the councils and they will scourge you In ttio synagogues. And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. Than shall they deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you." But he inspired them when no said: "Fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill tbe soul; but rather fear him which Is able to destroy both soul and body In hell." Here he rises far above phy sical infirmities Into the realm of the soul and challenges the world with its sin to take blm.as a Savior. "But as many received him to them gave he power to become the sons of, God." Burdened man, sick with sin; discour aged woman, lost to lore; Innocent child, he Is yours. He Is a prevent! tire and curative Savior. in ill iiiii At the Churches Grace Mcthodtat Kptscopal Chnrtli Corner Tenth and High streets; H. C Richards, minister. 10:00 a. m..
