I NO HKIIVirt-: TO KNTKR
The Russian soldier Is the poorest
paid In all the world. A private In
the army of the rear get 13.78 n year
compared to thu Jt HO to $300 the
United States pays Its men of (bo
ranks. Knglund pay Its privates
IHC.lG a year, Franco 120.40, (lor
many 118.80, Austria $8. IS.
Remember, these figure are for a
whole year, and represent thu total
amount of cash paid the fighting men
In that period.
A Russian major general gets only
17(2 a year, or about as much as the
United Stale pays Its scrgunt-majort,
the highest nou-coramlssloned rank.
Our major-generals got $8,000 a year.
Tho other countries are rnoro goner
ous with officers of high rank and par
a minimum of about half the United
States standard.
A better example of tho RtiHsln:i
contrast Is shown In what Is paid an
officer holding the title of general
over there. Ho gets $1,272. We do
not hare a rank that high In the Unit
ed States. This country pays Its sec

out of West Point, $1,700 a year
