CLEAN UP OUTSIDE AND IN
T1AT there is great need for the
systematic observance ot an an
nual "clean-up" day seems to be con
ceded by practically everyone in
Klamath Falls. If It was as easy to
remedy the unsanitary conditions of a
town as It Is to get the people to ad
mit the necessity of doing so, Klam
ath Falls, as well as all other cities,
would be spotless.
While tho conditions In Klamath
Falls are somewhat Improved over
what they wero a few days ago, a trip
through the city shows many streets.
alleys, yards and open places that are
littered with waste and rubbish, and
are unsightly and unsanitary.
Although probably no worse than
other cities, you will find a poor walk
here, a board out of a fence there, or
a post down, weeds growing rank
along the sidewalks or In the yards.
or even the home presenting a dilap
idated appearance for the want of a
little palnL
If these are the conditions out
doors, exposed to Tiew, what must be
the condition inside, in the basements
and attics and store rooms.
A clean up campaign should be
thorough. It means more than simply
raking up a few chips and boards and
tin cans and hauling them away. That
much is good, but there is work for
every man, woman and child in the
city. If you will take a few momenta
to think, you will find several things
that you should do.
You might start In by fixing the
walk; then level off tho lawn: clean
up the back 'yard, and plant some
flowers; then clean up the attics and
store rooms Inside.
The plan that will accomplish the
greatest results would be to treat tho
home with a new coat of fresh paint.
This done, you will not be content
until all the surroundings are improv
ed to correspond.
It will also be an incentive to the
neighbors to improve. It is wonder
ful what a little paint will accomplish.
Just try it and see.
