Late Tuesday afternoon the county
court named tho Merrill Record as
the official paper of the county in
which to publish the proceedings of
the court.
The sworn subscription list of the
Republican, Northwestern and Mer
rill Record had been filed. Although
the llsta of both of the former papers
were greater than that of the Merrill
Record, the court refused to consider
them on the adtlce of the district at
torney, who objected to the technical
wording of the affldaTlU.
The sworn affidavit of the Record
givea that paper SOI subscribers, al
though there are only 489 names ou
the list. Three hundred and nlnet
of these reside at Klamath Falls, Mer
rill and In the southern part of the
county.
The entire northern part of the
county, which Is two-thirds of the
area of the county, is covered by a
total of six subscribers. One of those
is County .Commissioner Hagelstein,
who lives at Algoma. Out of 200
residents and taxpayers who receive
their mall at Fort Klamath, four are
subscribers to the Record.
The entire Western part of the
county Is represented by one sub
scriber at Keno. Hlldebrand, one of
the largest settlements in the east
ern part of the county, has not a
single subscriber, while Dairy has
only four.
The number of subscribers to the
Record and the respective postofflces
are as follews: Merrill, 217; Klam
ath Falls. 135; Malln. 32; Lorella.
18; Olene, 29; Fort Klamath, ;
Dairy. 4; Midland, 2; Bly, 1; Tule
I .nice, 4; Swan, 0; Hlldebrand, 0; Bo
nanza, 28; Langell Valley, 11; Klam
ath Agency, 0; Chlloquln, 1; Algoma,
1; Keno, 1.

met with rather a serious accident
last Tuesday by sticking two prongs
of a pitchfork lu his left wrist, re
sulting In Indications of blood poison
ing necessitating medical attendance.
Owing to his temporary disability,
Mr. Inman has permanently left the
employ of Mr. Murdoch.

Mrs. Clatou M. Kirk, who has thir
teen lieus, usually gets from eight to
thirteen eggs, but one day this week
there were fourteen eggs The hens
are Rhode Island reds, which breed
Mr. Kirk, a well educated Indian
farmer, contends Is ideal for this sec
