duction In the coming session of the
lenUiature by ex-Speaker 0. N. Mc-
Arthur.
"The electric chair provides a much
moro humano way of putting men out
of the world," saa Mr, McArthur,
"It can bo Installed with little ex
pense, and requires only a slight
change In one section of the code."
The former speaker has been col-1
loctlng data on the subject, and will
have a bill ready (or Introduction
early In the session. He believes It
wilt be adopted. He Is also prepar
ing a series of bills to repeal the
"deed wood" In the statute books,
lie says there are forty or fifty pagea
of "law" In the books that la not
law at alt, having been superseded
by later statutes or by constitutions!
provisions. For Instance, one taw
provldea for the Inauguration of the
governor In October, but for years
the constitution has made the term
of the new governor begin la January.
Numerous bills wltl be required to re
peal the old statutes, aa they embrace
many subjects and cannot be Included
In one act. Thetr adoption will clear
the law books of confusing and out
of date sections, and reduce the print
ing when the code Is again revised.
