Jas. H Wheeler, who la dewa
from Fort Klamath, elates that he
has Just returned from the moun
tains at the head ot the North
Umpqua, where he baa been trapping
during the winter. Mr. Wheeler has
been camped In the mountains since
October, and he statee that In Jan :
uary there was 17 feet ot snow
around his cabin. He brought la
with him 68 martin skins, a half,
doiea fox and a number ot coyote
and other skins. He spent tb winter
entirely alono In bta snow-bound
cabin, taking bis supplies from Fort
Klamath.
