Oregon's next legislature will
have 51 Statement No. 1 mem
bers instead of 52 as was thought
from the first count. The total
number of Democrat votes is It.
The Hoesch brewery of La-
Grande, one of the largest plants
of the kind in eastern Oregon,
will be elosed on July 1 as a re
sult of the prohibition vote at
the recent election. Plans are
already on foot to convert the
brewery into a fruit packing and
storage warehouse.
In spite of the declaration of
Judge George Gray that he does
not seek the presidential nomi
nation the George Gray league
of Doleware has been doing
much very aggressive work in
his behalf. A force of clerks is
now busy mailing 50,000 pamph
lets to all parts of the country
urging his nomination and set
